Rigor & Wonder, home

A working version early, so the pitch or the decision rests on something real.

Rigor & Wonder is a product studio for consulting firms and for teams who need tailored software in any sector. We question the brief until the real problem is clear, break it into parts, and build a working version people can try.

For consulting firms, we can build under your name for the pitch.

Tested, and dropped: struck: they must see it all.

The captions on this page show how we think. The studio builds products and prototypes.

Discovery

We start from not knowing. We write down what the brief assumes, suspend what we think we know, and test each assumption against evidence until the real problem is left. The captions in the hero play these steps; this is the cue sheet behind them.

  1. brief00:00:00.000Client: We need it all: accounts, dashboards, reports.
  2. suspend00:00:02.450Studio: Suspended: what we think we know, and what the brief assumes.
  3. assumption00:00:06.300Studio: Tested, and dropped: struck: they must see it all.
  4. evidence00:00:10.300Studio: Evidence: their data has never answered their question.
  5. vision00:00:13.100Studio: Vision: they see it answered, on their own data, at once.
  6. problem00:00:16.950Studio: Problem: one trusted answer, real data, fast, in the room.

The problem statement is where decomposition starts.

Decomposition

We split the problem statement into parts, ask each part what it needs, and decide how long each one has to last. Here the statement is “one trusted answer, real data, fast, in the room”, and the parts follow its order. Choose a part to see the questions asked of it.

One answer

From the problem statement: “one trusted answer”

Questions we ask of it:

  • Which single view answers their question?
  • What will they compare it with?

Will it last? Months. The flow lasts; the layout will change.
